Meet Rusty and Spike

On January 26, 2016 a worker at a church in Burlington discovered 2 bats in a plastic 5 gallon bucket that was about one quarter full of old nails.  The bucket was in the basement workshop of the church which does not see much activity so he had no idea how long the bats had been in the bucket.  He knew just what to do because one year earlier he had found a bat in the same church and had called us to rescue it.  It took him a while to find our phone number, but once he called we headed right out.  When we arrived we found that both bats were alive and they seemed to be comfortable on their bed of rusty nails.  We carefully retrieved them and returned to the Center.
The names Rusty and Spike seemed to fit the two male big brown bats.  They both got complete checkups and were in very good condition, though hungry and thirsty.
