Meet Tubber
On Thursday afternoon, January 21, 2016 we got a call from a Vermont Game Warden that he had rescued a bat in Montpelier and would be bringing it to the Center on Friday morning. He could not bring it right away because he had to make another call to check on a goose in Barre. The bat was a male big brown bat that was found in an old Victorian house that had been converted into offices. The bat was found in the bathtub in the bathroom of a second floor office. That is why we named him Tubber. Tubber is our second bat from Montpelier in two weeks and he was found only a few blocks from where Mattie was found. Mattie was also found in a bathroom
When Tubber arrived at the Center we gave him a complete checkup which he really did not like. He was in very good health but did have a small scrape on his nose. He got several meals of high energy food which he really loved. On a few occasions he dove right into the food on the spoon and ended up with a nose full!
Tubber is now eating lots of mealworms and will soon move into the hibernation area in the cage with Mattie.
